Preseason Outlook

Punto again had stretches as a starter in the Twins' annual shuffle of middle infielders last year, though he hardly contributed even when in the lineup. For the second time in three years he hit under .230, his .621 OPS trailing his already pitiful career mark of .647. His glove makes him a constant candidate to start, but his bat makes him a constant candidate to sit, which means you can expect the Twins to go through this same wrestling match with him in 2010, moving him in and out of the lineup to suit their needs. Does that sound like a worthwhile Fantasy option to you? Punto's ability to steal 15 bases gives him some low-end appeal in AL-only leagues, but otherwise, you don't want him. (Updated 1/5/10)
