Gerut announces retirement: Mariners OF Jody Gerut announced on Sunday that he will retire from baseball. He said he was no longer into the game mentally and couldn't give his all. "I didn't want to be a player that plays for only his paycheck," Gerut told MLB.com. (Updated 02/27/2011)
