| Shawn Camp hid toe injury |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/22/13) Cubs reliever Shawn Camp has been dealing with a sprained toe for nearly a month, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, but he did not disclose the injury to the team until Sunday, when he first received treatment for it. Camp did not respond well to the treatment, forcing him to be placed on the disabled list Wednesday.
Camp had a 7.56 ERA and three blown saves before the injury, and it appears as if he might require a lengthy stay on the DL. He has been told to stay off his foot until the pain and swelling subsides.

| Cubs recall Rafael Dolis |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (5/22/13) The Cubs have recalled reliever Rafael Dolis from Triple-A, the club announced.
Dolis is taking the injured Shawn Camp's roster spot. Dolis appeared in two games earlier this season for Chicago; Dolis has allowed 29 runs and 40 hits in 39 1/3 career innings.

| Cubs place Shawn Camp on disabled list |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (5/22/13) The Cubs have placed reliever Shawn Camp on the disabled list with a sprained toe, the club announced.
Camp has been horrid this season, as he has allowed 26 hits and 14 runs over 16 2/3 innings. He allowed a run in four of his six outings in May and allowed a baserunner in five of the six.

| Sveum chooses closer based on matchup |
by Ed Gauna | CBSSports.com (4/29/13) Cubs manager Dale Sveum told MLB.com on Monday that he does not tell his relievers beforehand who will serve as closer before each game. He added that he goes by best the matchup to decide who to throw in the ninth inning.
“It’s been working,” Sveum said Monday. “I’m not going to say it’s a fix-all and that you don’t want to name a closer. You definitely don’t want to rock the boat when things are going good in the back of the bullpen when everybody is healthy and ready to go that night. It could be one of four guys. It depends on the matchups.”
Carlos Marmol, Kevin Gregg, Shawn Camp and James Russell are the "four guys" Sveum was referring to.

| Health not to blame for Shawn Camp's slow start |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (4/18/13) Cubs reliever Shawn Camp led the league in games pitched in 2012, but he insists that health isn't to blame for his slow start in 2013.
"Health-wise I'm fine," Camp told ESPNChicago.com. "I wouldn't be out there if I wasn't healthy."
Camp has surrendered eight earned runs on 11 hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings this season for a 15.43 ERA and 2.79 WHIP.

| Shawn Camp had such a successful first campaign in Chicago that the Cubs gave him another one-year deal in the offseason and he is expected to serve as the setup man again in 2013. He posted a 3.59 ERA while appearing in a career-high 80 games and struck out 54 in 77 2/3 innings pitched. The right-hander went 2 for 6 in save chances while recording 18 holds. Owners know Carlos Marmol is not the most reliable closer in the majors, so there is a good chance Camp will see a handful of save opportunities again this season. Given his role, however, leave the 37-year-old for the deepest of NL-only formats that use middle men on Draft Day. (Updated 12/11/12) |
