Fantasy Analysis
With the Rockies carrying limited options at second base, Scutaro has remained in the starting lineup despite his lackluster numbers. The 36-year-old has totaled just four hits during his current hitting streak and has not pushed his batting average over .270 since May 4. Scutaro has also produced just two extra-base hits since the first of the month. Consider him a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats at this point. (Updated 05/20/2012).

Marco Scutaro's 2011 season got off to a bad start, as he lost the starting shortstop job to Jed Lowrie and then missed time with an oblique injury. Then when Lowrie dealt with his own health issues, Scutaro got a second chance and ran with it. He finished the year with a career-best .299 batting average, as he struck out in only nine percent of his at-bats. Now both Scutaro and Lowrie are gone from Boston, as the Red Sox dealt Scutaro to the Rockies, who plan to use him as their everyday second baseman. With little competition for playing time, Scutaro's value should surge, and he gets the additional benefit of playing home games at Coors Field. He could become a doubles machine in Colorado, making him a good late-round option in mixed Head-to-Head leagues, and he could be worth a flier in Rotisserie leagues as well. (Updated 1/27/12)
