(5/4/13) The Reds signed outfielder Joe Mather to a minor-league deal and assigned him to Double-A Pensacola, the team announced.
Mather, who was released by the Phillies near the end of spring training, is batting .219/.271/.357 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI over 493 career at-bats.

(3/9/13) The Phillies released outfielder Joe Mather on Saturday after the veteran appeared in eight Grapefruit League games for the club. Mather was in camp on a minor-league contract after spending the 2012 season with the Cubs (.209 average in 103 games).
