Preseason Outlook

Morton came over to the Pirates in the Nate McLouth deal and did enough in 18 starts to convince the Pirates he deserves a rotation spot this year. He pitched especially well over his final eight starts, posting a 3.50 ERA, and ended the season with a complete-game shutout at Chicago. Because he doesn't blow hitters away, he'll have to improve his control to stick around, but the 26-year-old right-hander is certainly worth a look in NL-only leagues. The chances of him taking another step forward in his first full big-league season are pretty good. (Updated 2/2/10)
