| C. Carrasco impresses management |
| (2/28/08) The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Carlos Carrasco impressed manager Charlie Manuel and Phillies' pitching coach Rich Dubee Wednesday. "He came out to the mound chest-up," the said after Carrasco threw a perfect inning against Cincinnati. "It looked like he was all business and had a lot of confidence. That's good to see. That's very good to see, especially from a young kid." He's also dealing with some stress because two men robbed his family's home in Venezuela almost a month ago. At one point, the robbers put a gun to his sister's head. "I'm really worried for my family," said Carrasco through an interpreter. |
| Astros excited about B. James' future |
| (2/28/08) The Houston Chronicle reports that Brad James will likely begin the season at Double-A Corpus Christi, but since the Astros have added him to the 40-man roster, they know the 23-year-old right-hander could have a role in the majors at some point this season. He's among their top pitching prospects left after off-season deals. "Just getting to play with the older guys that are more experienced, it's good to get in here now and get more used to it," James said. "I don't want to go back to the minor league side. Trust me. This is 15 times better than the minor league side." |
