by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (6/7/13) Blue Jays pitcher Esmil Rogers pitched well Friday in a spot start against the Rangers.
Rogers was limited to just 73 pitches as a result of spending most of the season as a reliever, but he pitched well. Rogers held the Rangers to just one run in four innings of work, but he did not last long enough to earn the win in a 6-1 game.
Rogers struck out six batters and walked just one, while surrendering three hits, all of them singles. He lowered his ERA to 3.60, and he has allowed just one run in 7 1/3 innings in two starts.

| Esmil Rogers surprisingly sharp |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (5/29/13) Blue Jays pitcher Esmil Rogers made a surprise spot start Wednesday night in Atlanta and was surprisingly dominant.
Unfortunately, as a reliever, he only threw 62 pitches and left after 3 1/3 innings without being able to factor into the decision despite a 3-0 lead at the time of his departure.
Rogers allowed just three hits and two walks over 3 1/3 shutout innings. He struck out four batters and his ERA is at 4.03 on the season.
Wednesday's performance was Rogers' longest outing of the season, though he's gone at least three frames in three straight. Still, he is not likely to receive another start for Toronto.
