Duensing moving to rotation?: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports Sunday that the Twins are considering moving Brian Duensing back into the starting rotation. Duensing has done a terrific job pitching out of the bullpen this season. "He's really good in the 'pen," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "I love him right where he's at, but if we can't get to the bullpen, then what good does it do out there?" (Updated 05/13/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
The Twins are just thinking about making this move right now. Nothing is set in stone. The team doesn't really sound like it wants to move Duensing to the rotation, but it might have to due to other starters' struggles. Duensing has pitched to a 2.16 ERA over 16 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts and an 0-2 record. The move to the rotation would help his Fantasy value, but he's just an AL-only Fantasy option as a starter. (Updated 05/13/2012).
03/31/2012 15:24 Scott Baker to open season on disabled list
Twins starting pitcher Scott Baker will begin the season on the disabled list, the club announced via Twitter Saturday afternoon. The right-hander has been battling elbow inflammation throughout camp and he apparently won't be ready for the start of the season. The the move is retroactive to March 27, so Baker is eligible to come off the DL April 11.

What do the bullpen and closer situations look like in the Nationbal League? Michael Hurcomb debuts Fantasy Relief, a weekly column dedicated to finding you saves and other critical relief pitching stats.
After bouncing between the starting rotation and the bullpen over his first two major-league seasons, Duensing finally seemed to have solidified his role as a starting pitcher last year. The problem is he wasn't any good at it. Oh sure, he looked good in short spurts -- a trend that continued into 2011, when he posted a 2.91 ERA in five April starts -- but when exposed over an extended period of time, he became imminently hittable, posting a 5.85 ERA from the beginning of May to the end of the season. So back he goes to the bullpen, where the Twins plan to leave him now. As a middle reliever, he obviously doesn't have much Fantasy appeal outside of deeper AL-only leagues. If the Twins ultimately have a change of heart and decide to move him back to the starting rotation, well, you can always make a play for him on the waiver wire then. (Updated 2/17/12)
