Ceda has torn ligament: The Sun-Sentinel reports Marlins reliever Jose Ceda has a torn ligament in his throwing elbow and will have Tommy John surgery on April 3. Ceda was given the option of pitching through the injury, but he opted for season-ending surgery. That way I just lose this year and by next spring training Im fine, said Ceda, who missed all of the 2008 season after undergoing shoulder surgery. Im pretty down. I was working hard to be there opening day with the team and show them I could be there the whole year. Im down, but I cant go crazy either. These are things that happen. (Updated 03/29/2012)
