Skelton working on his versatility
(2/17/09) Diamondbacks C James Skelton, acquired from the Tigers in the Rule-5 draft, has worked on fielding ground balls and fly balls in the hopes of improving his versatility, according to the Arizona Republic. "I've seen him with good feet for a guy who has never played the infield since high school," coach Chip Hale said. "He has really soft hands. He worked hard at all the infield positions. Hitting fungos, he looked like he'd have no problem fielding the ball and throwing to first. Obviously, we don't know what it's going to look like in game situations. He definitely has the body and the feet and the hands to be able to play the infield."
D-Backs pick up C Skelton via Rule-5

He began this past season in high Class A, playing in 63 games, batting .307 with 43 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, three home runs and 23 RBI, before being promoted to Double-A on July 31.
