Orioles 1B Chris Davis stays hot with homer Wednesday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/29/15) Perhaps Orioles first baseman Chris Davis won't return this season to his form of two years ago, but he is certainly making folks forget his miserable 2014.

Davis keyed a six-run first inning Wednesday with a three-run homer, then rounded the bases with nobody in attendance to cheer but his teammates. His current slash line of .268/.333/.549 includes a slugging percentage that has leaped 145 points over last year.

He has three home runs and 10 RBI in his last four games combined.

Orioles 1B Chris Davis doubles, homers, collects 3 RBI on Sunday

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(4/26/15) First baseman Chris Davis doubled, homered and collected three RBI on Sunday to help lead the Orioles past the Red Sox.

Davis broke Sunday's win wide open with a two-run double in the third inning and added a solo homer in the sixth.

Davis now has two homers and six RBI over his last three games.

Delmon Young gets start in left for Orioles

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4/19/15) Delmon Young is in the Orioles starting lineup for the first time since April 14.

Young starts in left field for the first time this season on Sunday. Alejandro De Aza is out of the lineup.

Chris Davis starts at first base for the second straight game, with Jimmy Paredes at DH.

O's Chris Davis provides insurance homer in ninth inning on Saturday

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(4/18/15) Designated hitter Chris Davis' two-run homer in the ninth inning, an opposite-field shot, on Saturday provided the Orioles some breathing room in their 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

"I think early in the season, in my batting practice and in early work, just trying to stay on the ball as long as I can. If that means going the other way or pulling the ball the right way, we talked about that a lot," Davis said to mLB.com.

The homer was just Davis' second this season as the slugger has accumulated 18 strikeouts in 10 games. He also struck out three times.

"It's still early. I'm still trying to find my rhythm and timing. I feel like the more at-bats I'm seeing, the more I'm seeing the ball," Davis said. "[Red Sox starter] Clay [Buchholz] had a real good changeup today. It's pretty much his pitch. He's a guy who if he gets ahead of you early, you've just got to zone him up and he threw me in my first at-bat and my second at-bat, two really good ones. Tip your hat and move on."

Jimmy Paredes to DH on Saturday for Orioles

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4/18/15) Jimmy Paredes, activated off the disabled list earlier in the day, is playing designated hitter for the Orioles and hitting fifth in the order.

The insertion of Paredes caused some position shuffling across the Orioles' lineup. Chris Davis, who has been playing DH, moved to first base, and first baseman Steve Pearce moved to right. Right fielder Travis Snider is not in the lineup.

With Jonathan Schoop on the disabled list, Ryan Flaherty steps into the lineup, playing second base and batting eighth.
