"He's going to be pretty sore today," manager Terry Collins said pregame Sunday. "That baby was nasty. When he came off the field, it was already an inch high, the swelling."

(6/28/14) Mets catcher Anthony Recker had X-rays taken on his right hand following Saturday's game against the Pirates, but ESPN.com reports he did not think the injury was serious.
Recker was able to play the whole game despite taking a foul ball off his right hand, but had it wrapped in ice after. The extent of the injury is not yet known.
|Mets haven't decided which catcher to demote yet |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(6/22/14) The Mets are unsure whether they will send Anthony Recker or Taylor Teagarden to the minors, according to ESPN.
With Travis d'Arnaud expected to be called up soon, the team will not carry three catchers. Recker still has an option remaining, and can be sent down to Triple-A with no issues. Teagarden is out of options, and has already been outrighted in the past. If he were to pass through waivers unclaimed, Teagarden could opt for free agency. Neither player has performed well this season, so the fact that Recker has an option could be the deciding factor.
