J.P. Arencibia slugs 10th home run in win vs. A's

|(9/18/14) Rangers designated hitter J.P. Arencibia went 1 for 4 with a three-run home run in his team's 6-1 victory over the A's Wednesday.
After the Rangers evened the score at 1-1 in the ninth inning, Arencibia put his team up with a big blast over the left field fence. He has a modest four-game hitting streak with two home runs during that stretch. Arencibia has hit .173/.234/.367 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 196 at-bats.
J.P. Arencibia might not get a lot of starts in September

|(8/31/14) With Ryan Rua expected to see the majority of playing time at first base in September and Jim Adduci close to coming off the disabled list, the Rangers might not have a lot of starts to give J.P. Arencibia down the stretch, according to MLB.com.
"It's obvious what they want to do," Arencibia said. "I get it. They want to look at young guys and see what they can do. I have been around enough. When I came back from Triple-A playing every day, my numbers were there."
Arencibia hit .262 with six home runs and 20 RBI in his first 17 games following his promotion after the All-Star break. Unfortunately, he entered play Sunday mired in a 5-for-50 slump.
"The only thing I can do is come in every day and take it day by day," Arencibia said. "It's out of my hands. I can't dictate what they do with me. That's their decision. When I came back after the All-Star break, you saw the production. When I stopped playing, it made it tougher, that's the bottom line. When I was playing every day, the numbers are the numbers."
J.P. Arencibia falls back into slump with hitless streak
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(8/14/14) The tear at the plate for Rangers first baseman J.P. Arencibia has ended in a crash. He is hitless in his last 18 at-bats since opening the Aug. 8 game with a home run.
Arencibia bashed seven home runs during a 19-game stretch after returning from injury. He rose his average from .133 to .198 before his recent slide.
J.P. Arencibia continues power surge Tuesday night
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(8/6/14) Rangers designated hitter J.P. Arencibia slammed his sixth tater since his July 18 promotion to help his team clobber the White Sox on Tuesday night.
Arencibia launched a solo job in the fifth inning after having contributed a three-run double in the second that began the rout in earnest. He has 13 hits in his last 40 at-bats to raise his batting average from .136 to .198, its highest point since the second game of the season.
|J.P. Arencibia has pretty much established what kind of Fantasy asset he can be: a .220-hitting, 20-homer smashing catcher. He won't walk a lot and is good for about 125 strikeouts, meaning you have to be a certain brand of Fantasy player to embrace Arencibia -- searching for power any way you can get it and willing to sacrifice batting average. There's something to be said for knowing exactly what you will be getting from a catcher (although a potential Texas time split with Geovany Soto throws a bit of a wrench into the mix), and Arencibia is one of the few who can offer it. He's good for a $1 bid in two-catcher formats.
