| Michael McKenry still in Pirates' lineup Monday |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (5/13/13) Michael McKenry will get another start for the Pirates Monday with Russell Martin sidelined.
Martin appears to be closer to a return. The team demoted emergency catcher Tony Sanchez Sunday. McKenry will face Brewers pitcher Marco Estrada, and will bat seventh. He's hitting .244/.320/.511 in 45 at-bats this year.

| Michael McKenry raises average |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/11/13) Pirates catcher Michael McKenry snapped out of a slump Saturday, going 2 for 4 in an 11-2 win over the Mets.
McKenry drove in three runs and walked once. McKenry, who was mired in a 2-for-16 slump heading into the game, raised his batting average 25 points to .262.

| Michael McKenry slugs third home run |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (5/1/13) Pirates catcher Michael McKenry hit his third home run in a win Wednesday over Milwaukee.
McKenry is hitting .318/.400/.818 but his defensive day illustrated why he might be able to wrest playing time from Russell Martin. The Brewers stole four bases in four attempts off McKenry, who has had issues allowing stolen bases since last season, when he threw out under 20 percent of attempted basestealers.

| Michael McKenry homers twice, knocks in three |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (4/14/13) Michael McKenry hit two home runs and knocked in three runs as part of a 2 for 4 day for the Pirates Sunday against Cincinnati.
McKenry, who had played just two games and taken six plate appearances prior to Sunday, now owns a .333/.400/1.111 line in his limited action. With Russell Martin struggling -- just a .268 OPS in 35 PA -- McKenry may be in line for some more playing time given Sunday's outburst.

| McKenry goes deep vs. Brewers |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (9/2/12) Pittsburgh catcher Michael McKenry launched his 12th home run of the season during Sunday's series finale against the Brewers. McKenry took Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo deep in the second inning for a solo home run in a 12-8 defeat. He also singled in two more runs in the third inning and finished 2 for 4 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBI while improving his batting average to .263 on the year.

| Michael McKenry provided the Pirates with some decent pop at the backup catcher spot in 2012 and ended up having a career campaign. He hit 12 home runs with 39 RBI and a .422 slugging percentage in 240 at-bats as he saw minimal playing time behind Rod Barajas. The 27-year-old has been a favorite of manager Clint Hurdle since arriving in Pittsburgh in 2011 and could see his role increase heading into this season. With the Pirates giving Russell Martin a two-year deal in the offseason, however, it looks as though McKenry will continue to platoon at catcher. His power numbers extrapolate into some decent stats with a full season of at-bats, but since that is not likely to happen in 2013, leave McKenry for NL-only formats on Draft Day. (Updated 12/5/12) |
