(5/21/13) As expected, Cubs reliever Michael Bowden was designated for assignment Tuesday to clear a roster spot for Matt Garza, who was activated off the disabed list. Bowden is put on waivers after going 1-2 with a 3.78 ERA in 14 relief outings.

(5/19/13) The Cubs are expected to designate reliever Michael Bowden for assignment Tuesday to clear a space for Matt Garza on the roster, according to The Chicago Tribune.
Bowden struck out seven, walked five and carried a 3.78 ERA through 16 2/3 innings of work in the majors.

(3/21/13) Cubs reliever Michael Bowden has won a spot in the club’s bullpen, manager Dale Sveum confirmed.
The 26-year-old Bowden has pitched well this spring, with a 2.16 ERA over 8 1/3 innings.
Last season, Bowden had a 2.95 ERA and a 4.48 FIP in 39 2/3 innings with the Red Sox and Cubs.

(8/13/12) The Cubs purchased the contract of reliever Michael Bowden from Triple-A Iowa on Monday and optioned pitcher Brooks Raley back to Iowa, reports MLB.com. The Cubs also moved Ian Stewart to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the roster.
