| Padres clear space on 40-man roster |
| (10/13/09) The Padres outrighted catcher Eliezer Alfonzo, infielder Luis O. Rodriguez, utility man Drew Macias and pitcher Josh Geer to the minor leagues Monday. Alfonzo and Rodriguez refused the assignment and became free agents. |

| (8/1/09) Padres SP Josh Geer has been optioned to the minors to make room for SP Clayton Richard, who will start on Sunday against Milwaukee. |

| (7/29/09) San Diego manager Bud Black made a change to his starting rotation Wednesday. Right-hander Josh Geer, who has given up an NL-leading 27 homers, moves to the bullpen. Reliever Edward Mujica will start in his place on Saturday against Milwaukee. It will be his first start in the majors. |

| (7/27/09) Padres pitcher Josh Geer had another poor outing on Monday night against the Reds. Geer lost to a pitcher who gave up 13 earned runs over his previous eight innings in Homer Bailey as he, himself, allowed five runs four earned on four hits over just four frames. He gave up three homers and threw 73 pitches so it was clear it wasnt his night. Geer walked one and had one strikeout. His record is now at 1-7 on the season and his ERA is 5.96. |

| (7/22/09) San Diego hurler Josh Geer gave up just two runs over six innings on Wednesday but lost to the Marlins as their starter, Ricky Nolasco, was even better. Geer allowed six base hits in the game, including one home run, walked one and struck out four. His ERA is at 5.84 on the season and the loss drops his record to 1-6. |

Nolasco whiffs 10 as Marlins sweep Padres
Ricky Nolasco struck out 10 and combined with three relievers on a three-hitter Wednesday, leading the Florida Marlins to a 3-0 win over the punchless San Diego Padres that completed a three-game sweep.
