LeBlanc demoted despite strong spring: The Marlins optioned starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday. With the rotation already filled, LeBlanc did not have a realistic chance of winning a job as a starter this spring, though he became a potential option for the bullpen. Instead he will spend time in Triple-A for the fifth straight season. LeBlanc performed well in Grapefruit League play, going 2-1 with a 1.31 ERA over 20 2/3 innings. (Updated 03/30/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
LeBlanc is still the next in line for a rotation spot, so if any of the Marlins' starters suffers an injury, the lefty should make his way to Miami. If and when that happens, owners in NL-only leagues should consider making a waiver claim on LeBlanc. (Updated 03/30/2012).

Nick Hundley homered and the San Diego Padres held on for a 7-6 victory that snapped the Arizona Diamondbacks' franchise-record home winning streak at 15 games.
Wade LeBlanc was hoping to compete for a job at the back end of the Miami rotation this season. That was until the Marlins acquired Carlos Zambrano from the Cubs during the offseason to fill the fifth starting spot. Now, LeBlanc, who was traded to Miami from San Diego in November, will likely be used in long relief, but could still earn some spot starts. In parts of four seasons with the Padres, LeBlanc went 17-22 with a 4.54 ERA, starting 52 times and coming in as a reliever twice. He split time last season between San Diego and Triple-A Tucson, where he went 9-1 with a 4.30 ERA and recorded 92 strikeouts and 28 walks. But the left-hander was inconsistent during his time with the Padres and posted a 5-6 mark with a 4.63 ERA, winning three of his last four decisions. Without a guaranteed starting position, LeBlanc doesn't own much value and should likely be left untouched in Fantasy drafts. (Updated 2/13/12)
