| Indians designate Ezequiel Carrera for assignment |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (5/5/13) The Indians have designated outfielder Ezequiel Carrera for assignment, MLB.com reports.
Carrera was claimed from the Phillies on May 2. He went 2 for 4 for the Indians in two games after hitting a dreadful .077/.250/.077 over 17 at-bats in Philadelphia. If he clears waivers, the Indians will likely send him back to Triple-A Columbus.

| Indians bring Ezequiel Carrera back in the fold |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/2/13) The Indians claimed outfielder Ezequiel Carrera from waivers Thursday, a little more than a month after he was waived by the Indians and acquired by Philadelphia. He will be on the 25-man roster and in uniform in time for the team's game Friday against the Twins.
Carrera has appeared in 13 games this season, picking up one hit in 13 at-bats. The Indians designated Mike McDade for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

| Phillies take Ezequiel Carrera off roster |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/30/13) Phillies outfielder Ezequiel Carrera was designated for assignment Tuesday to clear a roster spot for Delmon Young, who was activated off the disabled list. Carrera hit .077 (1 for 13) in 13 games for the Phillies.

| Phillies like Ezequiel Carrera's speed |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/4/13) Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said outfielder Ezequiel Carrera was claimed off waivers from the Indians because the team liked his speed and experience off the bench, according to The News Journal.
"He provides some speed and versatility to play all three outfield positions. We’ll see what we got," Amaro Jr. said.
Carrera swiped 11 bases during the spring, which was tops in the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues.
"I was more aggressive in spring training in trying some things, and the results were the 11 stolen bases," Carrera said. "It’s always been a part of my game, the speed. But I took more chances in spring training, and they paid off.”

| Ezequiel Carrera is one of those dangerous bench players who could find his way into the starting lineup at some point this season and just ... stay there. And he'll do it without you even really noticing until he pops up at the top of the stolen base leaders over the last 14 games in free agent searches. Carrera hit .272 with eight steals over 147 at-bats last year. There's currently no room for him in the starting lineup, with Nick Swisher, Michael Brantley and Drew Stubbs plugged in as the starters, but there are enough moving parts (Swisher can play first, the DH slot is up for grabs, someone can get hurt) for Carrera to get at-bats. He can hit for average and has speed, giving him some value in deep AL-only formats on Draft Day. Carrera's a bench player, at best, with a good amount of potential that can be tapped if things fall the right way for him. (Updated 1/4/13) |
