Phillies OF Domonic Brown good to go Friday against Brewers
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(8/14/15) Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown is back in the lineup Friday against host Milwaukee after losing two games to an illness.
It remains to be seen if he can break from an 0-for-7 slump that followed a strong run in late July and early August.

Phillies' Domonic Brown homers, drives in four in loss Thursday
|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(8/6/15) Phillies right fielder Domonic Brown had a big day at the plate, but the Phillies came up short in the 10-8 loss to the Dodgers. Brown went 2 for 5 with four RBI, including a three-run home run off Zack Greinke in the first inning. The big fly gave the Phillies a two-run lead, but the Dodgers would rally back for the victory.
Brown, who began the year at Triple-A, has been putting up good numbers as of late. All three of his home runs have come over his past nine games, during which he's batting .324 with nine RBI.
"Yeah, he's been swinging the bat better," Phillies interim manager Pete Mackanin said, per MLB.com. "It looks like he's playing with more confidence. It's nice to see. As I've said before, we want him to hit and hit for power. He's starting to do that a little bit. If we can get him back to the year he made the All-Star team, that's what we're trying to do. But it is encouraging."
Jeff Francoeur starts in right for Phillies, ahead of Domonic Brown
|by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com|
|(7/20/15) Phillies right fielder Domonic Brown isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game, snapping a string of nine straight starts.
Brown is replaced by Jeff Francoeur, who gets his first start in right since July 4.
|2014 summary: Owners who drafted Domonic Brown looking for him to rebound from the previous season's dismal second half wound up being sorely disappointed. Brown's power remained MIA; he hit all of 10 home runs and 22 doubles over 144 games. A 50 percent ground ball rate did not serve Brown well, and not just because it contributed to his power outage. Brown batted .181 on grounders, which held his overall batting average to .235.|
Playing time status: Even though Brown hasn't produced much over the last season and a half, he will enter this season as the Phillies' regular left fielder. Late last season, he sat frequently when lefties were on the mound, and platooning could cut into his playing time again in 2015. However, with no major outfield prospects waiting in the wings, Brown could log another 500-plus plate appearances this season.
2015 outlook: Brown's spectacular first half of 2013 offers the promise of some power potential, but that brief spurt of production looks more clearly like an outlier now. He finished outside the top 60 in Fantasy value for outfielders last year, so to be worth drafting -- especially in three outfielder leagues -- he will need to realize some of the upside that could still be there. The safer bet is to leave him for waivers outside of deeper leagues.
