Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips (toe) out of lineup on Tuesday
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(5/26/15) Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips is out of the starting lineup on Tuesday, the team announced.
Phillips has started nine consecutive games for Cincinnati and is dealing with a case of turf toe on his left foot. Kris Negron getting the start at second. Phillips is hitting .299 with 18 RBI in 154 at-bats this season.
"I think he aggravated it in Cleveland [on Saturday] a little bit," Reds manager Bryan Price said, per MLB.com. "Until you see it on the field, you're not going to hear much about it from Brandon. He's not going to alert anyone about it. He just plans to go out there and play, and then when it becomes noticeable, it becomes one of those situations where we take the lead to make sure he's getting adequate treatment and he's not going to continue to aggravate it.
"Today's one of those days where we'll spend a lot more time on treatment than we probably do on ground balls and batting practice."
