Fantasy Analysis
Turner earned a spot on the Mets' bench because of his versatility around the infield. It's just that he's seen most of his action as a pinch hitter or defensive replacement this season. He has marginal Fantasy appeal until further notice. (Updated 04/16/2012).

Justin Turner's 2011 was a season of highs and lows. He lost a spring battle for the starting second base job to Brad Emaus, actually beginning the year in the minor leagues. When that experiment ended and Turner reclaimed his roster spot, Ike Davis went down with an ankle injury, clearing a lineup spot for Turner to step in and hit .325 for the month of May. Unfortunately, he hit only .242 the rest of the way, losing his grip on the everyday job and fading from Fantasy relevance. In all, the performance was good enough to make Turner the Mets' top reserve, which could mean a healthy number of at-bats given the team's injury concerns at first, second and third base. But he's unlikely to produce enough with those at-bats to justify a roster spot in Fantasy leagues. He's little more than depth for NL-only owners. (Updated 1/25/12)
