| Eric Sogard slumping after solid start |

(5/2/13) Athletics second baseman Eric Sogard is mired in a slump at the plate, going 3 for 23 in his last 10 games. He hasn't collected an extra-base hit since April 15.
The A's have shown a willingness over the past week to play Jed Lowrie at second base with Adam Rosales manning shortstop. If Rosales continues to hit well and the configuration sticks, Sogard could see a further reduction in playing time.

(4/26/13) Athletics second baseman Eric Sogard went hitless again in Thursday's 10-2 loss to the Orioles, going 0 for 2 before coming out for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. Sogard is 0 for 9 in his last five games, dropping his season line to .250/.333/.321.

(4/21/13) I noticed Athletics second baseman Eric Sogard was on the list of top 100 most-viewed players Sunday. With second base not being a strong Fantasy position, I understand the interest.
But surely Fantasy owners will figure out Sogard is a good contact hitter with little power. He also might be able to sustain a favorable on-base percentage, but the upside is limited with the 26-year-old second baseman. He slugged just .418 in 557 minor-league games and hasn't hit above seventh in the A's lineup this season, so it's not like Oakland is counting on him to be a major run producer.

(4/17/13) Athletics second baseman Eric Sogard fell a home run shy of the cycle Tuesday against the Astros. He finished 3 for 3 with one run, one double and one triple.
Sogard, who has made a team-high 11 starts at second base, is batting .297 (11 for 37) with one RBI and two stolen bases through 12 games.
"It looks like the spring training Sogard, the guy who gets a hit every time up," manager Bob Melvin said, per the Contra Costa Times. "He got a good at-bat against a left-hander, too. That was good to see."

(4/13/13) Athletics second baseman Eric Sogard doubled, stole third base and scored on an error in Friday night's game against the Tigers before being removed for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.
Sogard has two steals and a .250 average this season. Friday's double was his first extra-base hit of the regular season after a hot spring (.444/.500/.648 in 54 at-bats).
