Fantasy Analysis
After losing his spot in the rotation during spring training, Cecil will continue his attempt to rejoin the Blue Jays on Wednesday. The left-hander has already appeared in three games with New Hampshire and notched a 7.29 ERA. Leave him on waivers in most Fantasy formats for now. (Updated 05/08/2012).
03/07/2012 13:12 2012 Draft Prep: 10-team, AL H2H draft
How did our 10-team, American League Head-to-Head draft play itself out? For those owners preparing for this specific format, our draft results should help you map out your plan for Draft Day.
Instead of being a breakout season, 25-year-old lefty Brett Cecil had a year to forget in 2011. The Blue Jays demoted him to Triple-A after he got clocked in his first four starts. Cecil returned in late June, but after some initial success, he finished the year in a funk again. Cecil's velocity was down from the year before and he was burned by frequent homers, allowing 22 of them in just 123 2/3 innings. Cecil heads into spring training with a rotation spot and with little competition there is a good chance he will begin the year as one of Toronto's starters. However, with few signs of an imminent turnaround, Cecil is a risky pick, even in AL-only leagues. If he can recapture his form from the 2010 season, he could wind up having value in deeper mixed leagues as a waiver wire pickup. (Updated 2/17/12)
