| Chris Heisey's re-injury not severe |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (5/16/13) The injury to Reds left fielder Chris Heisey, who was pulled off a rehab assignment after straining his hamstring, doesn't appear to be severe, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
"It wasn’t horrendous," assistant general manager Bob Miller told the Enquirer. "He tweaked it."
Heisey originally was scheduled to return to the Reds Friday before re-injuring his hamstring. The earliest he'll return now is May 24, when the Reds begin their next homestand.

| Chris Heisey left rehab game with discomfort in hamstring |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (5/14/13) Reds outfielder Chris Heisey left Monday's rehab game with "discomfort in his hamstring."
Heisey appeared to re-injure the area early in Monday's game and was taken out after just one inning. The Reds expect to know more about the setback Tuesday, according to director of media relations Jamie Ramsey. It was Heisey's first game back after injuring his hamstring in late April.

| Chris Heisey leaves rehab game early |
by Ed Gauna | CBSSports.com (5/13/13) Reds outfielder Chris Heisey appeared to re-aggravate his hamstring injury while rehabbing for Double-A Pensacola on Monday night, the Pensacola News Journal reports. He played defense in the first inning but was pulled for a pinch hitter in the bottom half of the frame.
Heisey, who was placed on the disabled list April 29 due to a strained hamstring, was expected to be activated Friday.

| Chris Heisey begins rehab assignment |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (5/13/13) As expected, Reds outfielder Chris Heisey will begin a rehab assignment Monday.
Heisey is expected to play three games with the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos before he's activated Friday. Heisey last played April 27 after straining his hamstring. He's hitting .173/.195/.293 in 75 at-bats this year.

| Chris Heisey failed to carry the momentum of his 18 home run season (in 279 at-bats) in 2011 over to 2012, but he still managed a respectable .265 average with seven homers and six steals in 347 at-bats. With Ryan Ludwick returning to Cincinnati and Shin Soo-Choo coming over via trade, the future looks rather grim for the 28-year-old. Heisey could have been a nice sleeper option for the Reds in left field, but is now little more than a reserve round flyer and lots of finger crossing (that he either gets traded or someone in the outfield gets injured) in NL-only leagues. He had decent power and speed in the minors, while carrying a nice average, and his half-season of stats in 2011 and 2012 project to a decent Chris Young-type player. Heisey's value lies in his situation and, right now, his situation is less than appealing. (Updated 12/12/12) |
