|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
(8/27/14) Reds outfielder Chris Heisey hit a pinch-hit home run in his team's 7-5 win over the Cubs Monday.
After the Cubs closed the gap to one run in the top of the eighth, Heisey provided an insurance run that ended up not being needed. He has hit .226/.275/.372 with five home runs, 15 RBI and nine stolen bases in 226 at-bats.

(7/8/14) The Reds got a rare contribution from Chris Heisey's bat Tuesday, in a 4-2 win over the Cubs.
Heisey reached based four times in the win, in his first three-hit game since May 19. He went 3 for 3 with a walk and a run scored, while adding a stolen base.
Heisey is hitting just .227/.286/.348 in a part-time role for the Reds.
|Reds sticking with three-man rotation in left field |
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
(6/22/14) Reds manager Bryan Price said Sunday he's liked how the rotation of Ryan Ludwick, Skip Schumaker and Chris Heisey has worked in left field that he doesn't envision changing the routine any time soon, per MLB.com.
"I'm just going to let it continue to play out," Price said. "I think the team is playing well now and we're getting the most out of Luddy and Schu. Heisey hasn't been playing as much obviously. He'll run into some really good matchups and get some starts along the way. Right now, seems to be working well with the club. I think there's something good about getting guys in there into the mix. This is one of the ways of doing that."
|Left field will be shared position for Reds |
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
(6/1/14) Reds manager Bryan Price said Ryan Ludwick, Chris Heisey and Skip Shumaker will share the left-field spot going forward, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer. Ludwick hasn't been productive enough to retain the starting job.
|An 18-homer guy as a part-timer in 2011, Chris Heisey had a chance to show what he was really made of after Ryan Ludwick dislocated his shoulder on opening day last year. The results were underwhelming at best. Heisey performed so poorly in a full-time role that the Reds had to resort to mixing and matching over the next four months, with roster-filler type Xavier Paul getting most of the at-bats. Heisey has pop -- as evidenced not only by his 2011, but also his .456 slugging percentage over seven minor-league seasons -- but he's not a good enough hitter to make the most of it. Now that he has squandered his golden opportunity, he's likely confined to a bench role at age 29. Don't bother with him on Draft Day.
