| Tommy Hanson 'getting back into a rhythm' |

(6/16/13) Angels starting pitcher Tommy Hanson had one of his best starts Saturday against the Yankees, striking out a season-high eight batters. He's won both of his June starts, which is the first time he's won consecutive games this season.
Hanson is not only playing like a confident pitcher, he's also talking like one.
"That was the most confident I felt all year," Hanson said, per the Los Angeles Daily News. "I'm getting back into a rhythm. I threw the ball well in the bullpen (before the game) and carried it over into the game."

(6/15/13) Angels starter Tommy Hanson turned in another solid outing as he earned his fourth win Saturday against the Yankees.
Hanson (4-2) surrendered a run-scoring triple to Brett Gardner and an RBI single to Jayson Nix in the third inning. The right-hander permitted the two runs, five hits and a walk while striking out eight in 6 1/3 innings of a 6-2 win.
Hanson has allowed four runs over his last 11 1/3 innings. He is scheduled to make his next start Thursday at home against Seattle.

(6/8/13) Angels starter Tommy Hanson earned a win Saturday with a nicely pitched game in Boston.
Hanson improved to 3-2 as he got solid run support and gave up just two runs on seven hits and four walks over five innings. He limited the damage with four strikeouts. His ERA is 4.12 after his 114 pitches.
Hanson was a little better this time around in his second start since coming off the disabled list. His next scheduled start comes Friday against the Yankees.

(6/7/13) The Angels will not change the order of their rotation despite Friday's rainout.
The team will still plan to start Tommy Hanson during game one Saturday. He will be followed by C.J. Wilson, who will pitch Saturday night's game. Joe Blanton will pitch, as expected, on Sunday.

(6/1/13) Making his first start since May 4, Angels pitcher Tommy Hanson surrendered five runs (four earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out two in 6 1/3 innings against the Astros Friday. He fell to 2-2 and saw his ERA rise to 4.19.
Hanson was away from the team for most of May after the death of his stepbrother. He'll try to get back on track against the Cubs Wednesday.

| When the Braves remade Tommy Hanson's delivery prior to the 2012 season, they were hoping to prevent further wear and tear on his already damaged right shoulder. Unfortunately, that's not all they prevented. They prevented him topping 90 miles per hour with his fastball. They prevented him from pounding the strike zone, which prevented him from getting through six innings more often than not. Oh, they remade him all right. They remade him right into the scrap him, which is how the Angels were able to nab him for only Jordan Walden. Yeah, Walden's a relatively big-name reliever and all, but wasn't Hanson the top pitching prospect in baseball just a few short years ago? And didn't he more or less live up to the hype in his first three big-league seasons? One little tear in the rotator cuff in 2011, and that's it. Game over. Thanks for playing. Now, it's possible Hanson could rebound to a degree in his first season with the Angles. He's only 26, and even with the reduced velocity, he still struck out nearly a batter per inning. Still, with that new delivery, he was on fumes at the end of last season, pitching fewer than six innings in 11 of his final 13 starts. Given his pedigree, Hanson wouldn't be the worst middle-to-late-round gamble you could make on Draft Day, but he's far from a safe bet to rebound. (Updated 12/5/12) |
