Giants SP Madison Bumgarner cruises to eighth victory

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(6/28/15) Madison Bumgarner pitched 7 2/3 strong innings Sunday to power the Giants past the Rockies to earn his eighth win of the season, in addition to crossing the 1,000 strikeout barrier.

Bumgarner gave up two runs on a first-inning homer by Nolan Arenado, but settled down after that, scattering five hits while striking out eight and walking just two.

The Giants ace, who hasn't allowed more than two runs in each of his last four starts, ended a modest two-game losing streak to improve to 8-4 and lowered his ERA to 2.99. For good measure, Bumgarner cracked his eighth career home run, and his second of the season, in the seventh inning.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner gives up two runs in no-decision

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(6/24/15) Giants starter Madison Bumgarner gave up just two runs over 7 1/3 innings in a hard-luck no-decision on Tuesday.

Bumgarner left with the score tied at two. He gave up just five hits, walked one and struck out a career-high 14.

Despite allowing two runs or less and pitching more than seven innings in each of his last three starts, Bumgarner has not won since June 6.

"It’s a shame," manager Bruce Bochy said, per the San Francisco Chronicle. "You look at the last three starts, the way he’s pitched, and we couldn’t win any of them."

Bumgarner's next start is Sunday, against Colorado.

Giants SP Madison Bumgarner superb in loss on Wednesday

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6/18/15) Giants ace Madison Bumgarner was excellent in a tough-luck loss on Wednesday. The left-hander went the distance, throwing eight innings in the 2-0 loss to the Mariners in Seattle. Bumgarner allowed two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out nine. He threw 112 pitches, with 75 going for strikes in the gutsy effort.

The Giants's offense was unable to get anything going against Felix Hernandez, leaving Bumgarner with his fourth loss of the season. Both runs Bumgarner gave up came in the sixth inning on a pair of RBI doubles.

Bumgarner (7-4) has pitched exactly eight innings in each of his last three starts, allowing eight earned runs over that span. He'll look to snap his two-game losing streak in his next start, scheduled for Tuesday at home against the Padres.

Giants SP Madison Bumgarner takes tough-luck loss on Friday

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6/13/15) Giants starter Madison Bumgarner turned in an excellent performance on Friday against the Diamondbacks. Unfortunately for him, he was outdueled by Chase Anderson, as the Giants took the 1-0 loss.

Bumgarner went eight innings, allowing just one run on nine hits. He walked three and struck out seven. The only run of the game came in the second inning thanks to an RBI single by Ender Inciarte.

Bumgarner (7-3) will carry a 3.16 ERA into his next start, scheduled for Wednesday in Seattle.

Giants SP Madison Bumgarner shaky, but picks up 7th win

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(6/6/15) Madison Bumgarner wasn't at his best Saturday, but the Giants ace did enough to improve to 7-2 on the season in the Giants 7-5 victory over the Phillies.

Bumgarner went eight innings, but tied a season-high in allowing five earned runs. He did, however, strike out a season-high 11 batters while giving up two home runs.

"I can't throw much better and I gave up five runs," Bumgarner said. "I'll take throwing the ball that way anytime."

Bumgarner has now won four straight decisions, although his ERA did rise a tick to 3.38.
