Giants' Madison Bumgarner caps World Series with save

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/29/14) Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner capped off his dominant postseason run with a five inning save in Game 7 of the World Series.

Bumgarner came on in relief and was masterful. Pitching on just two days rest, Bumgarner was able to go five innings, giving up just two hits. He struck out four while throwing 68 pitches. Though Bumgarner wasn't technically the pitcher of record, the official scorer decided to give him the win. The ruling was later changed to give Bumgarner the save and Jeremy Affeldt the win. Bumgarner was named World Series MVP for his performance.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner could go 50-60 pitches Wednesday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/29/14) Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner could throw between 50 and 60 pitches Wednesday, according to HardballTalk.

Bumgarner won't get the start, but is expected to be used in relief in the team needs him. It's his normal day for a side session, and Bumgarner typically throws about 50 pitches on those days. Bumgarner has been fantastic during the postseason. He tossed a complete game shutout against Kansas City in his last start.

Giants will not start Madison Bumgarner on short rest

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/25/14) The Giants will not start Madison Bumgarner on short rest for Game 4.

Manager Bruce Bochy admitted he was considering giving Bumgarner the start prior to Game 3, but changed his mind following the game. Bumgarner has thrown a combined 256 innings between the regular season and the postseason, and there's a chance the team didn't want to push him any further, especially on short rest. San Francisco will throw Ryan Vogelsong, as originally planned.

Giants will consider Madison Bumgarner for Game 4

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/24/14) The Giants will consider Madison Bumgarner on short rest for Game 4, according to CSN.

As of right now, the team is planning to start Ryan Vogelsong. But if the Giants lose Game 3, there's a chance Bumgarner would get the nod on short rest. Bumgarner allowed one run in the team's Game 1 victory.

Madison Bumgarner allows one run in Giants' Game 1 World Series win

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/21/14) Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner earned a win in Game 1 of the World Series Tuesday, allowing just one earned run on three hits and one walk in seven innings while striking out five in his team's 7-1 victory over the Royals.

Bumgarner (3-1) continued to look excellent fresh off winning the NLCS MVP award. He fired six scoreless innings and was up 7-0 before surrendering a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. Bumgarner has delivered a 1.40 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 33:6 K:BB ratio in 38 2/3 postseason innings spanning five starts. He'll get the ball in Game 5 Sunday if the Royals can avoid a sweep. Game 2 is set for Wednesday in Kansas City.
