| Matt Dominguez shows off power |
by Adam Moore | CBSSports.com (5/12/13) Astros third basemen Matt Dominguez notched his first multi-home run game Saturday against the Rangers. Dominguez belted a solo shot off Yu Darvish in the second inning before touching him up again for a two-run shot in the fifth.
"That's kind of big for me," he said. "I was waiting for my first home run to come, and it took a while. But to go out and face him and be able to do it off him, such a great pitcher, it's a big confidence boost."
Dominguez finished 2 for 4 with three RBI and two runs scored in the 8-7 defeat. He is batting .303 (10 for 33) with two home runs and seven RBI in the month of May.

| Matt Dominguez shakes off rough night |
by Adam Moore | CBSSports.com (5/10/13) Astros manager Bo Porter said he has no doubt that third baseman Matt Dominguez will be able to shake off the rough defensive night he had Thursday against the Angels. Dominguez, who entered Thursday's tilt with a MLB-leading .990 fielding percentage, committed three errors in the 6-5 defeat.
"I was joking with Matty," Porter told MLB.com. "I told him when I pulled out of the parking garage last night to drive home that it was snowing outside. I told him the odds of me pulling out of the parking garage and it snowing are just as good as the odds of you making three errors in one game. It was part of the game and it can happen to the best of them. It's a prime example of no matter how good you are, you can make errors."

| Matt Dominguez healthy for Astros |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (4/23/13) Astros third baseman Matt Dominguez returned to the starting lineup Tuesday against Seattle after sitting out Monday's game, MLB.com reports. Dominguez was hit on the left elbow by a Chris Perez pitch Sunday against Cleveland.
Dominguez underwent X-rays, which showed no fracture Monday. He was able to get back in the lineup Tuesday.

Matt Dominguez shows off power
|
| Matt Dominguez was the No. 12 overall pick of the Marlins in 2007 but after disappointing in his time with the club, he was traded to the Astros last July. The move appeared to spark Dominguez as he batted .298 in 45 games at Triple-A Oklahoma City and saw some decent playing time in the majors down the stretch. In 31 games for Houston, he hit .284 with five home runs and 16 RBI. The 23-year-old still has plenty of time to turn around his Fantasy value and will compete for the starting job at third base during the spring. The former top prospect has the defensive skills to make a difference in the majors so it will be up to new manager Bo Porter, who also used to coach with the Marlins, to get Dominguez hitting on a consistent basis. Hitting in Minute Maid Park will also help so target Dominguez in AL-only formats on Draft Day as long as he starts for the Astros in 2013. (Updated 12/12/12) |
