Feliz getting advice from Pedro: ESPN.com reports Rangers pitcher Neftali Feliz, who is making the transition to starter this spring, has talked with former major leaguer Pedro Martinez in prep for the change. "We talked about being a starter and working hard," Feliz said. "It's something I have to make an adjustment with my body and my routines. He said it's going to take me a little bit of time to get ready to be a starter." Feliz said he will meet with Martinez again, and Martinez will even watch Feliz throw before spring training begins. Feliz added that he needs to be more consistent with his slider and changeup to have success as a starter. "Coming form a guy like him who I always admired as a kid, I took it very seriously," Feliz said. "He gave me advice about mental things and toughness. He was sincere with me. He said 'Be patient and don't get anxious. You'll get adjusted to it.'" (Updated 01/15/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Feliz was pretty dominant as a closer for the Rangers, so we can only hope he brings that same dominance to the rotation. Feliz was a pretty good starter in the minors, so the transition to the rotation might not take that long. It's a bonus for Fantasy owners that he will retain his RP eligibility this season. Expect to target Feliz in the middle rounds on Draft Day. (Updated 01/15/2012).
Neftali Feliz continued to be a dominant closer for the Rangers last season but will go back to his roots in 2012. After saving 72 of 81 chances with a 2.73 ERA over the last two years, he will join the rotation this season and has some solid upside as a starter. While his strikeouts dropped a bit in 2011, the right-hander showed in the minors that he has what it takes to start and should only benefit from a potent lineup backing him up in Texas. While Feliz will likely have his innings watched in his first full season in the rotation, the Rangers have a ton of guys that can start so they can get creative in how they give him some extra rest. There is no telling how productive the 23-year-old can be once he gets used to his new role and his value in Fantasy should only go up and since he will retain his eligibility as an RP. Feliz should be gone by the later rounds in mixed leagues on Draft Day. (Updated 1/30/12)
