| Bogusevic trying to land spot |
| (3/5/13) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic has had a productive camp thus far. Despite going 0 for 3 in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Rockies, he is batting .444 (8 for 18) with a home run through nine Cactus League games. Manager Dale Sveum told MLB.com that he will give Bogusevic some playing time at first base as well to increase his chances of making the 25-man roster. "The at-bats he's put together, the at-bats he's had against left-handed pitching [have been good], and he has a pretty good track record in the big leagues as a pinch-hitter as well," Sveum said. "He's the leader in camp right now with everything. I've been impressed with his outfield play, his arm. I know he can play the outfield, so I'm going to get him as much time as I can at first base. He said he's not super comfortable there."

Dickey stops Mets' losing streak
R.A. Dickey helped his own cause in winning his 16th game, driving in a run with an infield single and pitching seven solid innings Saturday as the New York Mets ended a six-game skid by beating the Houston Astros 3-1.

| Brian Bogusevic saw the most playing time of his career for the Astros last season, but struggled at the plate after an impressive callup in 2011. He batted just .203 with seven home runs and 28 RBI in 355 at-bats and posted a lowly .299 slugging percentage. While he was able to make 83 starts a year ago, Houston has a crowded outfield entering this season so the 28-year-old will have to compete for playing time during the spring. Bogusevic poses minimal appeal in Fantasy even if he wins a starting job so plan on ignoring him in the majority of formats on Draft Day. (Updated 1/10/13) |
