| Todd Frazier out of Reds lineup |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (5/22/13) Reds third baseman Todd Frazier is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets.
Frazier is hitting just .217 in May but appears to be breaking out of the slump, as he has six hits in his last eight games. He'll get a chance to stay fresh Wednesday as Jack Hannahan gets a start at third base.

| Todd Frazier snaps out of slump |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/18/13) Reds infielder Todd Frazier has not homered in May, but he showed a little life Saturday in a 10-0 win over the Phillies.
Frazier went 2 for 4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored, ending a four-game hitless streak. Frazier is 7 for 44 in May, with a .474 on-base plus slugging percentage. He had six home runs in April.

| Losing confidence in Todd Frazier? |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/5/13) What has happened to Reds third baseman Todd Frazier? After a torrid start to the season, Frazier has struggled the last few weeks, which has caused some Fantasy owners to dump him onto waivers.
But is that the right move? Maybe. It's not like Frazier's slump has lasted a few games. It's been several weeks. A .148 average and 24 strikeouts in his last 24 games isn't going to instill a lot of confidence in Fantasy owners.
If you can afford to be patient for a few more weeks, then I say hold onto Frazier. He was due for a market correction after bursting out of the gate, but Frazier's has been a little more extreme because I think he's had a little bad luck in this stretch. He has just a .243 BABIP, which is well below his career .293 mark, per FanGraphs.com. Also, Frazier has just an 11.3 percent line-drive rate through 30 games, which is below his career 20.4 percent mark.
Also, it's worth pointing out Frazier has been terrible on the road this year. He's batting just .122 in 14 away games, as opposed to .316 in 16 home games. Frazier hasn't been great on the road in his career, but he hasn't been this bad of a hitter. In his career, he has a .255 average and .471 slugging percentage on the road.
It seems if these three trends head back toward the norm for Frazier, then we might start to see a more reliable Fantasy option emerge.

| Todd Frazier moved to fifth spot in lineup |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/28/13) Reds manager Dusty Baker made a tweak to his lineup Sunday against the Nationals. With left-hander Ross Detwiler on the mound, Baker dropped Jay Bruce to the sixth spot in the lineup and elevated Todd Frazier to the fifth spot.
"Frazier’s good against lefties and Bruce has struggled against this guy," Baker said, per the Cincinnati Enquirer. "It’s been a struggle this first month with Bruce, period. We need some RBI from Frazier and he’s been pretty good with men on base."
Baker said he isn't sure how long this lineup change will last.
"Things change during the course of a season, because we are in the production business," Baker said. "Sometimes you’ve just got to do things. You wait and wait and wait and sometimes you’ve got to make a change. I don’t know how long this is for."
Frazier entered play Sunday mired in a 3-for-25 slump (.120) in his last eight games, dropping his season average from .305 to .250. However, his 19 RBI rank second on the team behind Brandon Phillips' 22 RBI.

| Todd Frazier is going to enter 2013 with eligibility at both first and third base. And he'll be a viable candidate at both after putting up a .273 average with 19 home runs and 26 doubles in just 422 at-bats last season. Frazier benefited from timely injuries to Scott Rolen and Joey Votto in 2012, allowing him to show off his talents, which would have otherwise been buried on the bench. Heading into 2013, Frazier is penciled in as the starting third baseman, but he also played seven games in the outfield last year, so there exist some scenarios -- mostly among Reds fans -- where Frazier starts in place of free agent Ryan Ludwick. Either way, outfield eligibility will only increase his value. Frazier should be a mid-to-late round selection in most drafts, able to help in average and power categories in 2013.
