| Hector Rondon grabs spot with Cubs |

(3/22/13) Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Friday that Hector Rondon has claimed a position in the bullpen for opening day, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Rondon was selected from the Indians in last December's Rule 5 Draft and owns a 3.00 ERA over seven games this spring.

(12/6/11) The Indians designated SP Hector Rondon for assignment on Tuesday in order to make room for OF Grady Sizemore on the 40-man roster. Rondon was recovering from Tommy John surgery this fall, pitching in the Venezuelan Winter League, but he underwent another surgery on his right elbow last month. He will be out for six to nine months. "We're hopeful that he'll be able to pitch at some point next year," general manager Chris Antonetti told MLB.com.
