Preseason Outlook

Martis, one of the latest players to come out of Curacao, has talent, but the Nationals have rushed him through the system so quickly that it hasn't had a chance to marinate. He struggled in 15 starts last year, finishing with a 5.25 ERA and more walks than strikeouts. The Nationals have enough rotation options now that they can probably let the 23-year-old begin the year in the minors, but he has an outside shot at winning a job this spring. He's a low-end NL-only option. (Updated 1/26/10)
