(6/28/14) Tigers pitcher Phil Coke picked up his first win of the season Saturday, striking out one in a scoreless eighth inning in his team's 4-3 victory over the Astros.
Coke (1-1) threw only nine of his 17 pitches for strikes, but he was able to send the Astros down in order before his offense took the lead in the top of the ninth. He owns a 5.34 ERA and 21:9 K:BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings.

(6/22/14) Tigers reliever Phil Coke shut the door on the Indians in his first save opportunity of the season Saturday, in a 5-4 win in extra innings.
Joe Nathan blew his save try in the ninth inning, so Coke got the chance to close it out as the offense took the lead in the top of the 10th inning. Coke allowed one hit but slammed the door on any potential rally with three strikeouts to finish off the game.
Coke hasn't been particularly good this season, posting a 5.81 ERA in 26 1/3 innings.

(6/2/14) Tigers lefty Phil Coke is no longer a useful reliever, according to the Detroit News. Opponents scored in four of Coke's eight May appearances and reached base by hit in seven of those games, the report said.
Coke is stranding runners on the bases at a career-low 57 percent. He's 0-1 with a 6.50 ERA in 16 appearances.

(5/21/14) Tigers pitcher Phil Coke was hit with a loss Wednesday after giving up two earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one in 1 2/3 innings in his team's 11-10 loss to the Indians in extra innings.
Coke (0-1) gave up the tying run in the 13th inning and was removed with two outs and runners on second and third. After the next pitcher issued an intentional walk to load the bases, his balk ended the game and stuck Coke with his first loss of the season. (3/12/14) Phil Coke provided some encouragement Tuesday in his battle for a roster spot for the Tigers despite what some believe to be a concerning lack of velocity. The left-hander pitched a scoreless inning against Toronto, striking out two along the way.
"I was fighting through a couple things the last two outings so they weren't as crisp as I'd like them to be, but I felt pretty confident with my stuff today," he told the Detroit Free Press. "I don't think I was thinking about everything, I was just going after guys."
Coke's fastball has been topping out in the high 80s and low 90s, but he said his velocity is ahead of where it usually is at this point of spring training.
