White Sox 3B Conor Gillaspie bulks up
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
|(1/25/15) White Sox third baseman Conor Gillaspie says his offseason weight training program has enabled him to add 15-20 pounds of muscle, "which should translate into driving the ball harder," reports ESPN.com.
“Honestly I’m hoping that by taking the same swing that I did last year, because I’m stronger, I’m hoping that translates into more power,” Gillaspie said, per the website. “It may or may not. We have enough guys that do hit for power on this team now. There are quite a few of them, so truthfully, I think I might be just as valuable getting on base, drawing walks, moving runners.”
Gillaspie hit .282 with seven homers and 57 RBI in 130 games last year.

|(9/5/14) Scuffling White Sox third baseman Conor Gillaspie has been benched for the Friday night series opener in Cleveland. Marcus Semien is set to man the position instead.
Gillaspie is 1 for 20 in his last eight games, including seven starts. His .295 average is at its lowest point of the season.
Conor Gillaspie slugs sixth home run Sunday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(8/24/14) White Sox third baseman Conor Gillaspie went 1 for 4 with a two-run home run in his team's 7-4 loss to the Yankees Sunday.
Gillaspie put his team up 3-0 with his blast in the top of the sixth inning, but the Yankees answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. He owns a .303/.357/.451 line with six home runs and 48 RBI in 379 at-bats.
Conor Gillaspie connects for first career grand slam
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(8/18/14) White Sox third baseman Conor Gillaspie hit his first career grand slam during a 7-5 win Sunday against the Blue Jays. He finished 1 for 3 with one walk and two runs.
Gillaspie gave Chicago a 4-1 lead when he homered off Drew Hutchison in the bottom of the first inning. It was his fifth home run and first homer in 31 games. He is batting .286 with 11 RBI in his last 31 games.
|2014 summary: In his second year as the White Sox's primary third baseman, Conor Gillaspie gained some notoriety for his hot start. Through June 9, Gillaspie was hitting .353, but because he had yet to hit a homer, he ranked outside the top 25 third basemen in Fantasy value. He hit for some power the rest of the way, launching seven home runs over 88 games, but he limped to the finish line with a .248 batting average over that stretch.|
Playing time status: Gillaspie is no sure thing to play regularly this season, but then again, that was true for the last two seasons, and he wound up being a regular.
2015 outlook: The only thing Gillaspie brought to the table for Fantasy owners last season was his .282 batting average, and a repeat of that mark is highly unlikely. Gillaspie hit .304 on ground balls, and he is pull-heavy and not especially speedy, so that doesn't bode well for a similar average this season. He is strictly an AL-only option, and that's only if he gets regular playing time.
