D-Backs make a slew of cuts
(3/15/10) The D-Backs optioned infielder Pedro Ciriaco and pitchers Leyson Septimo, Daniel Stange and Cesar Valdez to minor league camp Monday. The club also reassigned pitchers Tommy Layne, Kyler Newby, Wes Roemer, Bryan Shaw and Matt Torra, catcher Konrad Schmidt, infielder Mark Hallberg and outfielder Collin Cowgill to minor league camp. The team now has a total of 46 players in camp, including 23 pitchers, five catchers, 11 infielders and seven outfielders.
D-Backs name spring training invites
(2/8/10) The D-Backs have announced the following non-roster invitations to spring training: pitchers Rodrigo Lopez, T.J. Beam, Josh Ellis, Barry Enright, Tommy Layne, Kyler Newby, Wes Roemer, Bryan Shaw and Matt Torra; catchers Carlos Corporan, Sean Coughlin and Konrad Schmidt; infielders Jeff Bailey and Mark Hallberg; and outfielders Collin Cowgill, Evan Frey and Drew Macias.
