Newby did not allow a home run in 46 1/3 innings, while striking out 45 in 46 1/3 innings. "He's not afraid to challenge hitters," Diamondbacks farm director Mike Bell said. (Updated 02/08/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Newby totaled a 3.45 ERA at Double-A last season and even made 11 starts after Barry Enright was called to the majors. He did well as a starter in winter ball, leaving the door open for him to become a rotation candidate for Arizona. Still, he has a lot of work to do before getting the majors, so continue to ignore Newby in Fantasy. (Updated 02/08/2011).
