White Sox, Dayan Viciedo avoid arbitration
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(1/12/15) The White Sox have avoided arbitration with outfielder Dayan Viciedo.
Viciedo agreed to a one-year deal worth $4.4 million. While agreeing one a deal isn't necessarily big news, the new contract could impact the trade market for Viciedo. With the team signing Melky Cabrera in the offseason, Viciedo has been relegated to a backup role. The team is reportedly shopping Viciedo, and it's possible teams balked not knowing how much Viciedo would earn in 2015. Now that Viciedo's salary has been established, it could make a trade easier for Chicago.
The 25-year-old hit .231/.281/.405 over 523 at-bats last year.

|(12/11/14) The Mariners have not been able to make recent progress in a trade for White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo, according to FoxSports.com.
Seattle had been mentioned as a candidate to acquire Viciedo early on Thursday, but it doesn't appear the two sides have made any progress on a deal. The 26-year-old Viciedo hit .231/.281/.405 over 523 at-bats last year. Viciedo is arbitration eligible, and would remain under team control until 2018.
Report: White Sox's Viciedo could be alternative option for Mariners
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(12/10/14) The Mariners are showing increased interest in trading for White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo in order to obtain a right-handed power bat to play in right field, sources told Bob Dutton of The News Tribune.
Trying to trade for Viciedo has become an option after unsuccessful attempts thus far to sign free agent outfielder Melky Cabrera or acquire Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp. USA Today reported Tuesday the White Sox are shopping Viciedo.
Viciedo hit a career-low .231 in 2014. However, he belted 20-plus homers for the second time in three seasons. The 25-year-old outfielder is entering his first year of arbitration and is under team control through the 2017 season.
Dayan Viciedo slugs 19th home run Wednesday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(9/4/14) White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBI in his team's 11-4 loss to the Twins Wednesday.
Viciedo smashed a two-run home run to left field in the fourth inning while the game was still competitive before collecting an RBI single in the eighth inning after the score had already gotten out of hand. With three home runs in his last four games, Viciedo has hit .237/.282/.415 with 19 home runs and 54 RBI in 460 at-bats.
Dayan Viciedo returns to lineup Friday
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(8/16/14) White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo is fine after leaving Friday's game with dizziness, as he is in the lineup Saturday against the Blue Jays. He is batting fifth and has slid over to left field with the return of Avisail Garcia from the DL.
|2014 summary: Dayan Viciedo began the season as the White Sox's fourth outfielder, but Avisail Garcia's early injury and Alejandro De Aza's late-season departure to the Orioles gave him opportunities for regular at-bats almost all season. Viciedo responded by exceeding 20 home runs for the second time in his career, but he didn't offer much in the way of a batting average (.231), on-base percentage (.281) or RBI total (58). His 65 runs scored did represent a career high.|
Playing time status: With the offseason signings of Adam LaRoche and Melky Cabrera, Viciedo appears to be the odd man out of the White Sox's outfield and designated hitter mixes.
2015 outlook: In his three full seasons, Viciedo has been fairly consistent, so Fantasy owners could expect more of the same, but only as long as he is afforded similar playing time. Only a trade is likely to make that happen, so unless is given a larger role somewhere, Viciedo can be ignored outside of AL-only leagues.
