| Pirates promote pitcher Vin Mazzaro |

(4/16/13) The Pirates have promoted pitcher Vin Mazzaro to the majors Tuesday.
Mazzaro has experience as a starter but has been used primarily as a reliever in the minors this season. The 26-year-old is probably not a candidate for high-leverage situations at this time. He has a career 5.22 ERA and 5.01 FIP over 286 major-league innings.

(2/9/13) The Pirates outrighted relief pitcher Vin Mazzaro to Triple-A Indianapolis Friday, to make room for the signing of Francisco Liriano. Mazzaro has a chance to fight for a role in the Pirates’ bullpen in spring training, after they acquired him in the offseason.
