|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(5/20/15) Yankees pitcher Ivan Nova is scheduled to make one more start in extended spring training on Saturday before the team decides on his rehab assignment, according to MLB.com.
Nova, who is currently on the 60-day DL with an elbow injury, has made progress in his rehab from Tommy John surgery. The right-hander threw 42 pitches in his previous extended spring training outing and his hoping to at least match that pitch total on Saturday.
Nova posted a 2-2 record with an 8.27 ERA in 20 2/3 innings in 2014.

Yankees' Ivan Nova feeling good after extended spring training outing

|(5/12/15) After throwing 33 pitches during an extended spring training game Tuesday, Yankees pitcher Ivan Nova said the outing went well, reports Newsday.
"I was a little bit excited," Nova said, per NJ.com. "I feel like I was trying to do too much, like I was trying to impress my manager and my pitching coach. I don't know why."
Nova is nursing an elbow injury, which landed him on the 60-day disabled list. He said he is anxious to begin his 30-day rehab assignment in the near future.
"It's something that I think about every day," he said. "I'm a little anxious."
Yankees injured pitchers Ivan Nova, Chris Capuano to throw Tuesday
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(5/11/15) Yankees pitchers Ivan Nova and Chris Capuano are scheduled to throw on Tuesday, according to MLB.com.
Nova will throw three innings or 45 pitches in an extended spring training game while Capuano is scheduled for six innings or 90 pitches on his Triple-A rehab assignment. Nova is currently on the 60-day DL with an elbow injury, but is yet to begin a rehab assignment. He is expected to be out until at least early June.
Capuano is currently on the 15-day DL with a quad injury and could return to the team after his start. Neither has thrown for New York yet this season.
Yankees P Ivan Nova 'threw well' in two innings Thursday
|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(5/7/15) Yankees pitcher Ivan Nova was able to pitch two innings in a rookie-league game on Thursday, according to MLB.com.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Nova "threw well" in the outing. Nova is still working his way back into game shape after suffering an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery a year ago.
|2014 summary: Ivan Nova made only four starts for the Yankees, as he was diagnosed with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and underwent Tommy John surgery in late April. He did not fare well in his brief time in the rotation, going 2-2 with an 8.27 ERA.|
Playing time status: Nova is aiming to return to the Yankees' rotation in May.
2015 outlook: The last time Nova was likely healthy -- back in 2013 -- he was having a breakout season. He doesn't have the most pristine control, and even though he can hit the upper 90s, that hasn't been much of a deterrent against contact. What Nova did have at his best was a highly effective sinker, and if he has that again in 2015, he will be worth using in standard mixed leagues as a streaming option. However, there's no need to draft him outside of deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats.
