Yankees' Sabathia bumped to Wednesday, Nova starting Sunday
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(7/3/15) The Yankees have opted to give struggling veteran pitcher CC Sabathia a few more days off before his next start. Manager Joe Girardi announced Friday that Sabathia will be pushed back to Wednesday against the Athletics.
Sabathia was originally scheduled to start Sunday against the Rays. Ivan Nova will start Sunday for New York.
"It's up to them," Sabathia said, per The Journal News. "Whatever they think is best is the schedule that I'm following. It is what it is."

Nova dropped to 1-1. He gave up two runs in 5 1/3 innings, but the Yankee batters could only muster one run on the day.
Nova struck out seven, his most since September 21, 2013.
Yankees' Girardi waiting until next off-day to finalize five-man rotation
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(6/26/15) Yankees manager Joe Girardi said following Thursday's game against the Astros a final decision on who will be removed from the rotation won't be made until the team's next off-day Thursday, according to MLB.com.
With Ivan Nova returning from the disabled list, the Yankees have gone to a six-man rotation for the time being. Masahiro Tanaka, Michael Pineda and CC Sabathia appear to have rotations spots secured, leaving Nova, Nathan Eovaldi and Adam Warren fighting for the final two spots.
Although, all signs seem to point to Adam Warren moving to the bullpen since he's had success in a relief role at the major-league level.
"He's pitched as well as anyone in our rotation," Girardi said before Thursday's game. "As I've said, we don't need to make a decision right now. I'm not worried about making a decision right now. I know there's a lot of people around here who want me to make a decision right now, but that's not going to happen.
"There are a lot of things that can happen between now and when we get back from Anaheim. There just is. Let's just see how guys are doing and we'll make a decision."
Yankees SP Ivan Nova produces solid outing in return Wednesday
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(6/24/15) Yankees pitcher Ivan Nova was impressive during his first start Wednesday since undergoing Tommy John surgery more than a year ago.
Nova did not surrender a run over 6 2/3 innings of work. He only allowed three hits while striking out one and walking two during the outing. Nova received his first win of the season during the 10-2 win over the Phillies.
Wednesday's start was his first since April 19 of last year.
Yankees SP Ivan Nova set for Wednesday's clash with the Phillies
|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(6/24/15) Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova has been activated from the disabled list and is in the lineup as the starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Phillies. Nova had Tommy John surgery nearly 14 months ago, and is set to make his first start since April 19, 2014.
|2014 summary: Ivan Nova made only four starts for the Yankees, as he was diagnosed with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and underwent Tommy John surgery in late April. He did not fare well in his brief time in the rotation, going 2-2 with an 8.27 ERA.|
Playing time status: Nova is aiming to return to the Yankees' rotation in May.
2015 outlook: The last time Nova was likely healthy -- back in 2013 -- he was having a breakout season. He doesn't have the most pristine control, and even though he can hit the upper 90s, that hasn't been much of a deterrent against contact. What Nova did have at his best was a highly effective sinker, and if he has that again in 2015, he will be worth using in standard mixed leagues as a streaming option. However, there's no need to draft him outside of deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats.
