|Shawn Kelley runs into trouble in loss |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(7/26/14) Yankees reliever Shawn Kelley suffered a rare loss Saturday, as he could not work his way out of a jam in a 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays.
Kelley entered the game to start the seventh inning, and allowed a leadoff walk followed by a double, to put runners on second and third base. He struck one batter before he was pulled from the game, and left with the bases loaded. One of those runners came around to score what would prove to be the decisive run in the loss.
Kelly's ERA rose to 3.69, while he fell to 1-3 with the loss. He has allowed 13 runs in 31 2/3 innings, with 41 strikeouts and 12 walks.

(7/10/14) Yankees reliever Shawn Kelley, who's pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings the last two days, said he feels like he did before a back injury sent him to the disabled list.
"The first handful of outings, there was still some concern about my back," he told The Journal News. "It felt fine, but when you walk around for a month and you can barely bend over, it tends to get ingrained in your mind. I’ve had a few weeks now straight where I haven’t had to wake up in the morning thinking about my back, and I think that’s allowed me to get back to where I was before I got hurt."
Kelley is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA and four saves in five chances.
