| Rangers release Brandon Snyder |

(3/27/13) The Texas Rangers announced Wednesday that first baseman Brandon Snyder has been granted his request for release. Snyder was a non-roster invitee after being re-signed to a minor-league deal in December, but he was re-assigned to minor-league camp last week. Snyder hit .154/.258/.308 in 30 plate appearances for the Rangers this spring.

(9/1/12) The Rangers announced they will recall first baseman Brandon Snyder, starting pitcher Martin Perez, outfielder Leonys Martin and relievers Tanner Scheppers and Yoshinori Tateyama from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Snyder batted .281 in 38 previous games with Texas this season.

| Brandon Snyder hit .277 with three home runs and two doubles in 65 at-bats for the Rangers in 2012. The 13th overall pick of the 2005 draft, Snyder, 26, has a decent amount of power and some average potential, but doesn't look to have a role on the team for 2013. If he makes the Rangers, it will be as a bench player, leaving him with little value this season. On a team like the Mets, Snyder might have some value. With the Rangers, though, Snyder is best left undrafted. (Updated 1/8/13) |
