(9/1/13) Pirates pitcher Kris Johnson returned to the majors Sunday after being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis, but his return didn't turn out to produce his first major-league win. In fact, Johnson dropped to 0-2 during a 7-2 loss against the Cardinals.
Johnson struggled from the outset Sunday, as St. Louis sent eight batters to the plate and scored three runs in the first inning. Johnson tossed a scoreless second inning before being chased with no outs in the third inning after allowing a two-run double to David Freese. Johnson (0-2) allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks, while striking out one in two-plus innings.
