by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/22/13) Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick (wrist) remains on track to take batting practice Friday in Houston. He will do so again Saturday, and if all goes well, then the team will decide where to send him for a rehab assignment, according to MLB.com.
Reddick could be reinstated from the disabled list next week. Reddick, who was hitting .152 before going on the disabled list, believes his hitting woes could be strongly connected to his wrist discomfort.

| Josh Reddick hoping to avoid surgery |
by Adam Moore | CBSSports.com (5/13/13) Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a right wrist injury, doesn't think his injury will require surgery, but did not rule it out as a possibility, MLB.com reports.
Reddick said he has already noticed improvement in his wrist and will likely wait a week before trying to swing a bat. Reddick has been sidelined since May 7.

| Josh Reddick had shown some clout as a minor leaguer, but in parts of three seasons with the Red Sox, he didn't do much at the plate. In 2012, he finally put it all together, but unfortunately for the Red Sox, Reddick hit his groove after they had traded him to the Athletics in the deal that brought Andrew Bailey and Ryan Sweeney to Boston. Reddick clubbed 32 home runs, and in impressive fashion, he hit 18 of those at O.co Coliseum, which is one of the hardest parks in the majors for lefties to homer in. Power alone makes the 26-year-old a top 40 outfielder, but he is going to have to reduce his strikeouts if he is to take the next step forward in value. Even if that happens, Reddick flies out far too often to be a threat to hit much over .260. (Updated 12/4/12) |
