|(5/21/15) Astros pitcher Josh Fields was forced out of Thursday's contest against the Tigers after taking a line drive off the leg in the bottom of the ninth inning. Fields limped off the field and was escorted by team trainers to the locker room after pitching just one-third of an inning. He was replaced by Will Harris with a runner on first base in the bottom of the ninth.
Fields was diagnosed with a bruised right leg after undergoing an X-ray after the game. His status for the remainder of this weekend's series at Detroit remains uncertain.
Astros closer Luke Gregerson (rest) not available on Wednesday
|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(5/20/15) Astros manager A.J. Hinch confirmed that closer Luke Gregerson will not be available to pitch on Wednesday against the A's. Gregerson nearly cost the team a win on Tuesday when he gave up two runs in the ninth inning. He was pulled in favor of Pat Neshek who closed out the game and got the save.
Gregerson has appeared in three of the last four games for the Astros and has given up two runs in two of those performances.
Hinch indicated that Neshek, Chad Qualls, Tony Sipp and Josh Fields are all options to close if a save is needed on Wednesday, according to the Houston Chronicle.

|(4/26/15) Astros pitcher Josh Fields tossed one scoreless inning in his return to action Saturday against the Athletics.
It was Fields' first appearance this season after landing on the 15-day DL with a right groin strain to begin the year.
"I told him, 'Welcome back,'" Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "He throws his first pitch 96 mph and his second pitch at 97 ... I think everybody had a smile on their face. He's a big part of what we do in the bullpen."
Fields added a strikeout and a walk to his totals.
"I'm glad we were able to get him an inning with a little breathing room," Hinch said. "It feels like an extra-special addition."
Astros activate P Josh Fields, option IF Jonathan Villar
|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(4/23/15) The Astros announced that they have activated reliever Josh Fields from the disabled list.
Fields has been on the 15-day disabled list with a groin injury. He's been with Triple-A Fresno and threw five times on a rehab assignment. Fields allowed two runs on five hits and four walks in six innings pitched. He's struck out three batters.
"Josh Fields is a real weapon in the 'pen anytime during the game," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said, per MLB.com. "I told him, he'll be used primarily as a bridge in the middle part of the game. Get a couple outings under his belt, we can move him into a number of roles."
To make room for Fields, the Astros optioned infielder Jonathan Villar to Fresno. In seven games played, Villar has only recorded one hit in 13 at-bats.
