| Stauffer might replace Padres' Silva |
| (7/7/09) From The Sports Xchange: RHP Walter Silva, who made the Padres out of spring training on a tryout from the Mexican League, might have made his last start for the Padres on Monday night in Arizona. Silva gave up three runs on seven hits and lasted just 3 1/3 innings. His ERA for four starts since returning from Triple-A Portland on June 20 is 10.20, and his average start has lasted 3 2/3 innings. RHP Tim Stauffer, the Padres' first-round pick in 2003 who missed all of 2008 following shoulder surgery, could be next in line for a shot at the rotation. He took a perfect game into the sixth at Triple-A Portland on Monday night and allowed no runs on two hits over eight innings. |

He managed to avoid the loss thanks to the help of the Padres bullpen. |
