Banner spring earns Logan Schafer a start in third game
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/2/14) Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said he wanted to give Logan Schafer a start in left field Wednesday against the Braves after his banner spring, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Khris Davis had started the first two games in left field for Milwaukee.

Schafer hit .379 with a .471 on-base percentage, .569 slugging percentage and 1.040 OPS in 25 spring games. He also had one home run, two triples, four doubles, eight RBI, five stolen bases and 17 runs.

Brewers not ready to anoint Khris Davis starting left fielder
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(2/9/14) Although it appears Khris Davis is the favorite to open the season in left field for the Brewers, manager Ron Roenicke said he will have to earn the job this spring, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"I think we have three guys we're going to look at — Caleb Gindl, Logan Schafer and Khris," Roenicke said. "I'm not saying we're going into camp saying, 'You're definitely our left fielder.' He'll have the opportunity certainly because of what we think he can be offensively, and he did a nice job for us defensively. I'll get him out there as much as we can.

"If we get close to the season and he's not swinging it at all, and Gindl and Schafer are swinging, an opportunity (for them) will be better. Khris has more of an upside offensively, especially from a power and RBI standpoint, so that's how we're looking at it."

Three players vying for PT in left field for Brewers
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/11/13) Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Saturday he will continue to play the hot hand in left field, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He's used Logan Schafer, Caleb Gindl and Khris Davis in left field since Ryan Braun was suspended for the rest of the season, with Gindl getting the most playing time as of late.

"I've got three guys I like and want to put out there," Roenicke said. "Gindl's out there because he's swung the bat better than all of them. If he continues, then he'll be out there."

Logan Schafer biding time on bench
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/30/13) Brewers outfielder Logan Schafer is trying to remain upbeat as he takes a back seat to Caleb Gindl, who has taken over as the primary left fielder. Schafer, who has been dealing with a sore left knee, is mired in a 3-for-17 slump (.176) in his last nine games (four starts).

"He keeps barreling up the ball and he’s helping the team win, so it’s fun seeing him do well," Schafer said of Gindl, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I just have to keep preparing and hopefully do well when I get my chance in there with pinch-hits. It’s tough to keep a guy out of the lineup when he’s getting two hits a night."

Logan Schafer to take over left field, Jean Segura to hit third
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(7/23/13) Brewers manager Ron Roenicke told MLB.com Tuesday that Logan Schafer will see the bulk of the action in left field following Ryan Braun's suspension. Schafer will hit second, while shortstop Jean Segura will bat third for the Brewers.

"I know Segura doesn't want to hit third every day," said Roenicke. "He told me he's fine with doing it once in a while. He may be hitting third every day. He's handled it well. I like what it does with the lineup. If Schafer is second, I like where it puts [catcher Jonathan] Lucroy fourth and [center fielder Carlos Gomez] fifth. Then it depends on who's hot after that and whether Schafer stays hot in that second spot."
