| Craig Gentry snaps HR drought |
by Adam Moore | CBSSports.com (5/4/13) Rangers outfielder Craig Gentry hit his first home run of the year Saturday against the Red Sox. Gentry's two-run shot off reliever Koji Uehara, snapped a 100-game homerless drought.
He also drove in a run on an infield single in the fourth and finished 2 for 4 with three RBI in the 5-1 win.
Gentry is batting .241/.317/.426 with a home run and six RBI over 54 at-bats.

| Craig Gentry steals another base in loss |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (4/10/13) Rangers center fielder Craig Gentry drew the start in center field Wednesday and went 1-for-3 with his third steal of the season in the Rangers' 2-0 loss to the Rays.
Gentry, who is hitting .308/.357/.538, has amassed three steals in just 15 plate appearances this season. He should continue to stay in the mix in center field while hitting well.

| Leonys Martin, Craig Gentry can't get consistent time |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (4/9/13) Rangers outfielder Leonys Martin and Craig Gentry continue to be used in a platoon role.
Martin played in consecutive games this weekend, but was replaced by Gentry Monday. Manager Ron Washington hinted that Martin would start Tuesday's game, but Gentry would be used Wednesday. The constant substitutions in the starting lineup may continue.
Washington reiterated that "they're both going to play." The only way for the team to do that right now is to continue platooning them.
Both players had some promise as potential sleepers this season, but neither will have value in this current part-time role.

| Craig Gentry draws start in center |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (4/5/13) Craig Gentry will start in center field and bat seventh for the Rangers Friday.
Gentry and Leonys Martin are splitting time in center to open the season. Gentry already received a start this season, going 2 for 4 against the Astros on April 2.

| Don't dismiss Craig Gentry |
by Al Melchior | Data Analyst (4/3/13) At best, Craig Gentry was expected to be the lesser half of a platoon in center field with Leonys Martin, so it was a surprise to see him in the Rangers' starting lineup against Astros righty Lucas Harrell Tuesday. I've been rooting for Martin to get the bulk of the playing time, since I think he is the more valuable Fantasy player, but Gentry has his appeal, too.
It's not clear how the Rangers will use Gentry, but should he wind up getting more starts than Martin, Fantasy owners in deeper leagues could have a useful hitter on their hands. Gentry can hit for average, though a repeat of last season's .304 may be a slight reach, and 20 stolen bases could be a conservative expectation if he plays regularly. While I'd prefer the Rangers to go with Martin, if they show a preference for Gentry, I'll be ready to take advantage of it in deeper Rotisserie leagues.

| Craig Gentry set a handful of career-highs in 2012, including at-bats (240), doubles (12) and batting average (.304). Despite the upward trend, it appears Gentry is slated for a bench role in 2013, with the hope of some starts here and there as Ron Washington moves some pieces around. Gentry has shown an ability to hit for average, and has nice speed as well as a .292 average over the last two seasons and 31 steals in 373 at-bats in that span. AL-only owners may want to give him a look late, but mixed leaguers should stay away. (Updated 1/8/13) |
