Mets alter lineup with Curtis Granderson getting day off

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/21/15) Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson was held out of the starting lineup Thursday against the Cardinals for the first time in 10 games. With Granderson out of the starting lineup, center fielder Juan Lagares moved into the leadoff spot for the third time this season.

That wasn't the only change to the lineup manager Terry Collins made. He moved shortstop Wilmer Flores into the second spot in the batting order. Flores has started to improve offensively, batting .262 with a .524 slugging percentage, two doubles, three home runs and seven RBI in his last 11 games.

Third baseman Eric Campbell, who hit second the last four games, was moved to seventh in the lineup.

Mets' Eric Campbell, Jeurys Familia OK after injury scares on Sunday

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5/17/15)
Mets third baseman Eric Campbell and closer Jeurys Familia are OK after a couple of injury scares during Sunday's game against the Brewers, according to ESPN.com.

Campbell fouled a ball off his left knee in the sixth, but stayed in the game. He expects to be a little stiff on Monday, but does not believe it will require an X-ray. Campbell went 2 for 3 with a double in the game.

Familia had a comebacker on the final play of the game catch him on the left calf. He was able to complete the play and throw out Juan Centeno to end the game. He was seen with a wrap on his leg after the game.

Mets' Eric Campbell batting second, Juan Lagares ninth Sunday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(5/17/15) Mets third baseman Eric Campbell is batting second in Sunday's matchup with the Brewers, with center fielder Juan Lagares slotted ninth behind the pitcher.

Campbell, who has hit just .218/.328/.345 in 55 at-bats with the Mets, is making his second straight start after joining the team in the wake of the injury to second baseman Dilson Herrera, which has shifted Daniel Murphy back to second base. Lagares has hit second on most days since the injuries to David Wright and Travis d'Arnaud, but he'll be making his first start lower than second since April 25.

The Mets are favorites (-130) at home Sunday, per VegasInsider.com.

With Dilson Herrera (finger) on DL, Mets recall INF Eric Campbell

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(5/16/15) With second baseman Dilson Herrera (finger) officially placed on the 15-day disabled list, the Mets have recalled infielder Eric Campbell , reports Mets 101.com, and will start him at third base on Saturday against the Brewers, moving Daniel Murphy back to second.

Herrera suffered a broken right middle finger while taking ground balls in practice Friday.

Campbell has been back and forth between the Mets and the minors this season, as he was sent down from the big club to Triple-A May 5.

Overall for the Mets this season, Campbell is 10 for 50 (.200) with a homer and five RBI.

Mets option Eric Campbell, add Johnny Monell to roster

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(5/5/15) The Mets optioned third baseman Eric Campbell to Triple-A Las Vegas Tuesday and selected the contract of catcher Johnny Monell, the team announced.

Campbell drew 15 straight starts at third base after David Wright hit the disabled list, but the team chose Friday to move Daniel Murphy to third base and play Dilson Herrera at second, an alignment to which they stuck throughout the weekend. Campbell hit just .200/.323/.320 with one home run and five RBI in 50 at-bats.

Monell will give the Mets another lefty bat off the bench moving forward. He has hit .397/.455/.638 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 58 at-bats with Triple-A Las Vegas.
